Collaboration with Amor Bizarro

Project Overview:

This project TTBI (Truth Technologies Bureau of Investigation) used design as an exploratory tool, in order to depict the possibilities associated with new and emerging technologies. Through an entanglement of narratives surrounding voting, we re-imagined the objects, artifacts and systems starting from the micro to a broader, bigger picture. In doing so, we critiqued the cultural and social implications of these aspirations, while reflecting heavily on the present status quo.

• Media and social media outlets are plagued with dis-information both by internal and external political entities to shape the voting behavior for United States Presidential elections.

• Blockchain technologies is one way to register a vote that could be documented without political interference.

• There is a need for new technologies and organizations to safe guard the authenticity of voting.

New design questions the project unearthed:

• What actions would you take to safeguard truth, democracy, civic discourse?

• How could someone use algorithm technology to undermine trust in established social institutions, like media and democracy? Could your technology be used to generate or spread misinformation to create political distrust or social unrest?
