Problem

Mobile social gaming experiences are constrained by bandwidth, device performance, and fragmented interaction models, making real-time, expressive play difficult to achieve—especially when layering video and AR into the experience.

Opportunity

Advances in video compression and mobile AR presented an opportunity to reimagine lightweight, socially connected gaming experiences that could feel more immediate, expressive, and collaborative without requiring high-end hardware or complex onboarding.

Outcome

AllCity emerged as a speculative concept exploring how compressed video streams and AR overlays could enable fluid, real-time multiplayer interactions on mobile devices. I translated technical possibilities into a cohesive visual identity and interactive prototypes, producing a demo reel and design artifacts that clearly communicated the vision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The project demonstrates early-stage design exploration as a strategic tool for aligning teams around future product directions.

Reflection

  • Establishing a flexible schedule and clear project milestones was essential to delivering the work within the given timeframe. Approaching the project with a growth mindset allowed me to adapt to changing plans, respond to constraints, and maintain cohesion as the product evolved.

  • One of the most significant challenges was learning how to make design decisions collaboratively while balancing stakeholder priorities. Solving for user pain points required openness, active listening, and the ability to synthesize stakeholder input into clear, user-centered design outcomes.
